This Hoffman Estates Tub-to-Shower Conversion started as a standard sized tub. However, the homeowner hated the fiberglass surround and wanted the tub gone. They also wanted to replace the floor, vanity, and entry door.
The toilet had been slowly leaking for a number of years. You’ll see in the photo that we cut out the rotting sub floor and replaced it before we continued. We always replace the plumbing whenever we remodel the wet area. You’ll see that we added a cement board on top of the subfloor. The previous flooring was linoleum, which is fairly forgiving of an uneven floor. The homeowner wanted tile though, so the cement board helps minimize the chance of the tiles cracking as the house settles and shifts.

The homeowners opted for a shower curtain, white subway tiles and a shower niche. The bathroom door is an excellent touch – it certainly ups the luxury factor!
