Arlington Heights, IL bathroom remodel, completed in 2021. The client was looking to update her full bathroom. She wanted to remove the tub and build a walk-in shower instead. We only worked on the wet area; the tub and shower. The floor, toilet and vanity stayed as they were in good shape and recently replaced.
Arlington Heights, IL walk in shower remodel work in progress photos. These photos were taken shortly after we removed the tub and poured new concrete. We replaced all the plumbing in the wall to ensure a water-tight seal. After that, we added the new drywall, barrier seals, and tiled over it. You’ll see that the client chose two different tiles; the vertical white subway and the honey-cob shaped mosaic tile. The strip of different tile is called a waterfall, and draws the eye up the shower, making it appear taller than it is.
The finished shower turned out great! We added a shower niche, which gave the homeowners some needed storage. They chose to go with a shower curtain rather than a custom shower door to save on costs. The threshold is about 4.5 inches high, which is great for safety and anyone with accessibility issues.
