Barrier free shower Bathroom Remodel finished in Elk Grove Village, IL. The homeowner’s goal was to age in place. Their old tub had too high of a step to get in, and the shower curtain often got in the way. In the before photos, you’ll see the standard tub with an acrylic surround, original toilet and vanity.
We installed a heated floor in this en suite bathroom. Heated floors require us to update the electrical and install tiles that are meant to tolerate changes in temperatures. These clients chose a hexagon shaped tile which no only looks good, but are less likely to crack due to their smaller size.
This barrier free shower turned out amazing! The floor is sloped so that all the water goes into a modern drain. The hexagon tiles on the floor go well with the textured subway tile in the surround. We added a shower niche with a glass shelf and metal edging. The new vanity is a quartz top with an under-mount square bowl. For a finishing touch, the sliding barn door entrance from the bedroom.
